When I first found out about the assignment for this week I was at a loss. This week’s project was called “Tribute” and we were supposed to come up with our our interpretation of a famous artist’s work. The interpretation could be loosely based off their painting, photograph, sculpture, etc., but I had absolutely no clue as to what I was going to do.
Then my awesome boyfriend came up with the cool idea of dogs playing poker. Looks like I’m not the only creative one in the relationship. Thanks babe! Dogs Playing Poker refers collectively to a series of sixteen oil paintings by C. M. Coolidge, commissioned in 1903 by Brown & Bigelow to advertise cigars.
I nixed the cigar aspect of it and just focused on the dogs playing poker, but you can see that Dakoda is enjoying an ice cold beverage, so there are plenty of other vices to enjoy. 🙂 Playing around with photoshop, I added my own little twist to make it look like a semi abstract painting. As you can see, Kylie the cockapoo is upset and complaining that Starfox and Dakoda are dirty cheats!
