Project 52 – Week 1 & 2

I’m uber excited to post about Project 52, a project where super talented pet photographers from all over the world collaborate on a different theme each week for a year in order push our creative photographic limits. Kudos to Dana Cubbage of Dana Cubbage Photography for suggesting this awesome idea.

Visit this site every Friday to see each photographer’s take on the theme for the week. I’ll be linking to another pet photographer’s site and they’ll be doing the same so make sure to go through all the links until you arrive back to this site.

The theme for this week is LUCK. Since I missed week one, (the theme was SHADOWS) I had to double up so I’m also including my take on that theme as well.

LUCK:

Seren, New Jersey Pet Photographer, Luck

I had many ideas for the theme of luck, however I narrowed it down to two. At first I was going with the Wishbone theme, but the photos weren’t coming out the way I had pictured in my head. That’s how it is with photography, a constant balance between creativity and practicality. So I decided on the Horseshoe theme. When kept as a talisman, a horseshoe is said to bring good luck. Many believe that to hang it with the ends pointing upwards is good luck as it acts as a storage container of sorts for any good luck that happens to be floating by, whereas to hang it with the ends pointing down, is bad luck as all the good luck will fall out. Others believe that the shoe should be hung the other way, as it will then release its luck to the people around it. So hopefully Seren will be surrounded by tons of luck this week!

Check out the crazy creative Karla Ogilvie’s of Karla Ogilvie Photography interpretation of the Luck theme.

SHADOWS:

New Jersey Pet Photographer, Seren & Starfox, Shadows

Getting these two to sit still for this picture was crazy difficult, but with a ton of patience, I got my shot. Patience is definitely a virtue that pays off, especially when it comes to photographing pets.

Hope you enjoyed my interpretation of the themes of the past two weeks, and see you next week!
