This week’s assignment was “Second Chance.” This means that if we happened to have missed an assignment one week or if we wanted to redo one, we now had our second shot. I decided I wasn’t happy with my photo for Week 5 of Project 52, which was “Perspective.” In that photo, I interpreted the word perspective to mean point of view, and therefore took a photo through the eyes of my dogs at dinnertime. For my second chance, I took the word to another level. For this week’s theme, I interpreted perspective to now mean more of what you get when you travel and see different countries and cultures, a world perspective. While vacationing in Puerto Rico last year, I encountered many strays in the local areas and it broke my heart as well as opened my eyes to a worldwide problem. It’s amazing how traveling can really put things into more perspective. This triggered my long term personal project called Strays Around the World, where I will be traveling to a different country every year and documenting strays to help bring awareness of the overpopulation of these animals. The goals of the project is to bring more awareness, raise funds for 600million.org, an organization trying to come up with a safe and humane birth control pill for dogs, and publish a book or series of books called Strays Around the World. Be sure to keep checking the blog to track my progress and enjoy my sneak peek photo of Strays Around the World: Puerto Rico.
